Diagnostic Assessments
Our full diagnostic assessments are carried out by Qualified Psychologists who are registered
with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC). The assessment focuses on dyslexia and
other possible co-occurring difficulties.
Diagnostic Assessment Process
-
We will email a questionnaire for completion prior to the assessment.
-
At the assessment, we discuss the questionnaire and the difficulties being reported. From this, we use our range of assessment tools to put together the best diagnostic package for you/your child. This involves cognitive testing and assessments of literacy, numeracy, phonological processing and visual-motor integration, dependent on the nature of the difficulties reported.
-
We will give verbal feedback on the day of the assessment (usually giving a verbal diagnosis, but not in every case). A written (PDF) report (including recommendations) is then sent out within 2 weeks of the assessment date.

Duration: Approximately 2.5-3 hours.
What Happens Next?
-
We can carry out a Post Assessment Consultation* to discuss the report, findings and recommendations.
-
You can choose to have an individualised learning/coaching plan* created by a EMDN specialist teacher – this is based on the findings from the report and specific to the difficulties identified. This can be used for personal development, education purposes (with a SENCO or specialist teacher) or within the workplace.
-
If your difficulties are employment-related, we can also offer a Workplace Needs Assessment* to help you and your employer identify strengths and support any weaknesses. We can also offer coaching within the workplace*, dyslexia coping strategies for the workplace* and dyslexia awareness training*.
* Please note there is an additional cost involved for these services.
