Dyslexia Awareness Training for Managers
Dyslexia Awareness Training for Managers is carried out generally at the employer’s place of work. The training is for employers and line managers to raise awareness of what dyslexia is and the effect it can have on individuals. It also enables you to understand what it feels like to be dyslexic and what strategies you can put in place to support individuals with dyslexia.
The training will also look at co-occurring difficulties and how they relate to dyslexia. It is presented as a PowerPoint presentation and contains interactive activities.
The training also includes information about the different types of assessments, for example, screening assessments, learning/action plans and diagnostic assessments. It summarises the information in the assessments and what it means. This helps as often line managers may receive an assessment and need support to enable them to fully understand and implement the recommendations.
The training then looks at specific strategies that can be put in place to support individuals with dyslexia and strategies that can be regarded as reasonable adjustments in the workplace.
It also looks at the different types of software and hardware that are often recommended in Workplace Needs Assessments.
